Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM)

Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM) is a term for what is commonly called bug sweeping or counter eavesdropping.

A TSCM inspection is a structured search of a space using both technical equipment and a physical search to detect and locate all forms of audio or video surveillance deployed in the target search area. TSCM inspections are technical and require specialist knowledge and equipment.

Prior to any deployment, we will complete a preliminary risk assessment for the client to best assess their needs and to provide a bespoke and proportionate solution.

Risk Management Planning

Often, a proactive policy of prevention can protect clients from potential data loss, property loss or confidential compromise.

We offer our clients a variety of specialist services, from a Passive Technical Surveillance Risk Assessment (on site survey) to a Proactive Technical Surveillance Risk Assessment (penetration testing).

We promote regular testing of internal security measures, targeting three main areas: physical, technical and IT. This preventative approach proves to be cost effective, practical and protects the integrity of the client’s property and data.

Risk Management Response

In addition to our proactive risk assessment, we can also respond reactively when an issue has been identified by a client. This includes a full investigation, including a technical surveillance search of the location to identify and evidence any threat.

During this process the team will gather evidence of relevant areas of concern and, in addition to a report on the outcome of the investigation, the client will also receive a risk management report with recommendations of how they can best protect their data in future.

Bug Sweep

Also referred to as a TSCM search, a bug sweep is a complex process which is broken down into three key phases:

● Physical Search
● Advanced Forensic Search
● Full RF Analysis including GSM, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi bands, Telephone Analysis, Technical Surface Search (identifying technical threats hidden behind a surface) and non-destructive testing of potential threats.

To complete each phase of the search, our technical agents will utilise the latest technology to ensure any potential threat is located.

Although we do not advertise the technology we utilise on the website, we will include the technical specifications as part of any tender or quotation.
